Explore the Bible at Home - Week of March 31
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Guardians,
On Sunday, March 31, boys and girls studied two miracles of Jesus.
*The father of a sick little girl sought Jesus out and, in faith, asked Jesus to heal his child.
*A woman had been sick for years. She had spent all her money going to doctors, but nothing and no one was able to help. The woman believed that all she needed was to touch the hem of Jesus’ robe and she would be healed.
Jesus is all-powerful, or omnipotent. He has power over sickness—physical and spiritual. This week, ask your family to look around and take note of those who are hurting physically and spiritually. Pray specifically for each of those people and discuss ways you can help or encourage them during this season. Follow along with this week's lesson using the Explore the Bible at Home guide.
Older Kids Text Truth: Jesus is all-powerful. He rules over sickness.
Younger Kids Text Truth: Jesus has power over sickness.
A Woman and Girl Healed, Mark 5:21-43
One day Jesus got in a boat and crossed the Sea of Galilee. A large crowd of people gathered near Him. A leader of the synagogue named Jairus (JIGH ruhs) came. When Jairus saw Jesus, he fell at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come see his sick little girl.
So Jesus went with Jairus. On the way, Jesus was walking through a crowd of people. A sick woman was there. She had been sick for 12 years. She had spent all of her money going to doctors, but instead of getting better, she was worse.
She had heard about Jesus. She walked up behind Jesus and touched His robe. She believed that if she did that, she would be healed. The second she touched Jesus’ robe, she was healed!
Jesus knew that He had healed someone. He stopped and asked the crowd, “Who touched me?” The woman told Jesus the truth. Jesus said, “Your faith has made you well. Go in peace. You are healed.”
While Jesus was speaking to the woman, some of the leaders of the synagogue came to Jairus and said, “Your daughter has died. You don’t need to bother the Teacher anymore.
Jesus heard the men and told Jairus, “Do not be afraid. Only believe.”
Jesus took Peter, James, and John to Jairus’ house. A loud group of people had gathered to cry and wail. Jesus looked at the commotion and said, “Why are you making a commotion and crying? The child is not dead but asleep.”
The people started laughing at Jesus, but He sent them all outside. Jesus took the little girl’s mom and dad and his three disciples into the room where the little girl was. Jesus took her hand and said “Little girl, I say to you, get up.” Immediately the little girl got up and started walking around. Everyone was shocked, but Jesus said to give the girl something to eat.
