FELLOWSHIP DENVER KIDS
SUNDAY, JUNE 28
On Sunday June 28th our Fellowship Denver Kids lesson is from Hebrews 11, often called “The Faith Chapter” or “The Faith Hall of Fame.” Hebrews 11 is a catalog of Old Testament men and women who lived out their faith as they waited for God to fulfill His promise to send the Messiah. Each of these people serves as an example of how we can live daily by faith.
Toddler Text Truth: People show they love God.
Preschool Text Truth: People show they love God.
Younger Kids Text Truth: We can live by faith.
Older Kids Text Truth: God is honored when we live by faith.
Christ in Context: The Book of Hebrews describes how Jesus fulfilled the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament as the Son of God and the Son of man. Jesus gave His life as the final sacrifice for sin, establishing a new covenant between God and His people. He is our mediator, creator, high priest, and rescuer. He is perfect and reigns over all.
The Faith Chapter, Hebrews 11
The writer of Hebrews wrote about many people in the Old Testament who had faith in God. They trusted God’s promises about a future Messiah. These are some of the people the writer mentions:
With faith Abel offered a better sacrifice than Cain. Abel was a righteous man.
With faith Noah built an ark when he was warned about a flood he had not seen before. His faith made him an heir of the righteousness.
With faith Abraham obeyed God when he was called to move to a place he did not know.
With faith Abraham trusted God when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son. Abraham believed that God could raise anyone from the dead.
With faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months. They were not afraid of Pharaoh’s orders.
With faith Moses later refused to remain in Pharaoh’s house and chose to suffer with God’s people. He understood that God was greater than earthly treasures.
With faith Moses left Egypt. With faith the people crossed the Red Sea.
With faith Israel marched around the walls of Jericho and they fell down.
With faith Rahab was saved from death when Jericho was defeated.
And there are many more known for their faith. Gideon, Barak, Samson, David, Samuel, the prophets. Some conquered kingdoms. Some were given promises. Some shut the mouths of lions. Some were mistreated and killed because of their faith.
All of these people had faith in God’s promise of salvation, which would come through Jesus.
